Group Leader: Dr. Laxmi Narayana Patro (Patro Group)
Dr. Laxmi Narayana Patro is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at SRM University AP – Amaravati (School of Engineering and Sciences). He received his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras in 2011.
Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Patro pursued post-doctoral research at Seoul National University, South Korea (March 2012 – August 2013) and subsequently at the University of Marburg, Marburg, Germany (January 2014 – January 2016). Before joining SRM University AP, he served as an Assistant Professor at GITAM University, Bangalore (July 2016 – June 2018).
Dr. Patro's research focuses on solid-state ionics, encompassing charge transport and glassy dynamics of ionic liquids at higher electric fields, synthesis and characterization of fast ion conducting solid materials for energy storage applications, and fabrication of solid-state ionic devices such as batteries and chemical sensors. His group is actively involved in developing solid electrolytes for all-solid-state Na-ion and F-ion batteries.
He is a member of the American Physical Society and has led funded research projects including the SRM-Amararaja Center for Energy Storage Devices and development of fast fluoride ion conducting solid electrolytes (DST-SERB SRG funded).
