Openings & Opportunities • Patro Group (SSI Lab)
We are always looking for motivated and talented individuals to join the Solid State Ionics Lab. If you are passionate about materials science, electrochemistry, and next-generation energy storage, we would love to hear from you.
PhD Positions
We are accepting applications from highly motivated candidates for PhD positions in the following research areas:
- Cathode materials for Na-ion batteries (layered oxides, polyanionic compounds)
- Solid electrolytes for all-solid-state batteries (NASICON, Garnet, high-entropy ceramics)
- Polymer-ceramic composite electrolytes
- Interfacial engineering in solid-state batteries
Admission is through the SRM University AP PhD admission process (typically twice a year). For institute admission details, see the SRM AP PhD Admissions page.
Post-Doctoral Positions
We occasionally have openings for Post-Doctoral Researchers. Candidates who can bring their own funding are especially encouraged to apply. Relevant fellowship schemes include:
- SERB National Post-Doctoral Fellowship (NPDF)
- CSIR Research Associateship
- DST Women Scientist Scheme (WOS)
- DBT Post-Doctoral Fellowship
- Fulbright-Nehru Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship
Candidates interested in applying for any of these fellowships to work in our lab should contact Dr. Laxmi Narayana Patro by email with a CV and brief research statement.
Project Staff / Junior Research Fellows (JRF)
Project-funded JRF positions are advertised when new projects commence. These are short-term positions (typically 1–2 years) on funded research grants from SERB, DST, or other agencies.
Vacancies will be advertised on the SRM University AP recruitment portal and this website. Watch this space for announcements.
Summer Internships
We accept a small number of summer interns (typically 2–3) each year, usually in May–July. Applications from undergraduate and master's students with a strong background in materials science, chemistry, or a related field are welcome.
Send your CV, a brief statement of interest (maximum one page), and your academic transcripts to laxminarayana.p@srmap.edu.in with the subject line "Summer Internship Application — [Your Name]". Preference is given to candidates who apply at least 3 months in advance.
Interested candidates should send the following to laxminarayana.p@srmap.edu.in with an appropriate subject line:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) — including publications, projects, and academic background
- Statement of Purpose / Research Interest (max. 1 page)
- Transcripts / Grade sheets
- Contact details of 2 references
Due to the high volume of enquiries, we regret we can only respond to applications that closely match our current needs. We encourage you to review our publications and research interests before reaching out.
